Ben Stiller making Nigerian 419 film

Hollywood star Ben Stiller who in recent years jump started his career with mega hits like Night at the Museum, and Tropic Thunder in which he starred and directed, has signed on to direct a film based on one of Nigeria's claim to infamy, the ever so popular Nigerian Letter. Unfortunately everyone has forgotten us for Jay Jay Okocha and mostly associate us with those scam emails they get in their inbox and junkmail for the lucky ones.

The film will be about a banker from Chicago who falls victim to the 419 runs that involves someone claiming to be a Nigerian prince needing help to syphon some money from Nigeria to the States via a gullible or extremely greedy (or both) American. Our banker from Chicago so happens to be such.

Surprisingly enough, this film isn't actually going to be your typical slapstick comedy you usually expect from Ben Stiller. The film is actually being set up as a drama, with just a sprinkle of comedy that's meant to bring light to the hardships and desperate things people have to do to get by in third world countries such as Nigeria. I'm seriously looking forward to the film and will be keeping a close watch on the development of the project. My one big question is, dey go shoot am for Naija or just neglect authenticity and cut expenses by shooting in some yeye studio in Hollywood. Anyhow sha, if they decide to be legit, I get land for Asaba they fit use because I don't want to see the nonsense I saw in Wolverine X-MEN Origins...that was my favorite part of the movie though :)

  1. Whoever wrote this article, I just want to bring your attention to an apparent insolence and unpatroitism on your part. In your last paragraph, something about your "big question" on the location for your stupid movie, you said you wanted authenticity by willingly turning over your motherland to strangers to act a movie that will murder your image internationally while they keeping their dastardly acts under wraps.
FYI, pple like you are not needed in Nigeria, you don't even deserve to be a citizen of any country.

  2. Why so sensitive tee-boy? Calling folks insolent and unpatriotic cause of a movie that might not even be made is rather silly don't you think. You sound like Abacha accusing someone of treason...Enaf is Enaf lol
Besides,if they actually shoot some of the movie in Nigeria the production will create jobs for Nigerians and could even bolster a relationship between Nollywood and Hollywood.
And I'm sure after the whole District 9 thing they'll be careful or else "they will not be needed in Nigeria or even deserve to be a citizen of any country"...That was quite a crass statement you made lol

  3. Nwazo, your gesture portrays ur simple mind beyond words. I clearly understand ur need to be so lout, but also, I believe in the quest for survival a scholar like you would suggest selling ones heritage.lwkmd
Enjoy dear profligate individual. I pray Nigerians will never have to accept jobs at the expense of their integrity.

  4. Simple minded, yet scholarly...sounds kind of zen. I'll take that as an unintentional compliment lol
I sense some sort of misguided form on Nationalism coming from you Tee_boy with this talk of selling one's heritage. Relax and stop blowing things way out of proportion dude...If you have inferiority complex issues I suggest seeing a doctor.
I guess common sense and rational is becoming a very valuable commodity these days because trying to converse with a person like you is a futile gesture. Upon all your fancy quotes which I'm sure if the person who said that was still alive will be frowning on your rather undiplomatic and tasteless use of his words :(

  5. Hmmmm...that one really sounded a lil bit refined and I'm so suprised it's coming from our dear uncouth Nwazo.
Why is your focus on the primary issue of nationalism suddenly lost and replaced with sudden dimwitted and preposterous personal attacks. Dear friend don't get so worked up over an issue that eluded your mental grip.
You're such a subaltern and vacuous entity for me to always reply to. With that being said, I will like to close with a warm prayer for revelation of purpose for you because you're clearly a perturbed individual who surely needs quick help.

  6. It's all good Tee-boy...nothing personal dude. I guess this has been one of those threads gone to the dark side due to polarizing opinions.
Been quite amusing reading your comments though. Couldn't help laughing when I read "subaltern and vacuous entity"....Reminded me of Zebrudaya lol....NAIJA!

  7. Believe me, anyone who has anything to do with Nigerians is hell. This story they will probably tell will not portray the real acts of these thieves. IF ANYONE HAS INFORMATION WHO IS PRODUCING THIS MOVIE I WOULD LIKE TO TALK WITH THEM BECAUSE I LIVED THE NIGERIAN SCAM FOR 9 YEARS....ALL THEIR ACTIONS, PLANS, IT IS REMARKABLE. SOMEONE CONTACT ME SO I MAY ALSO TELL MY STORY AND I WILL BET THE BANKERS STORY IS NOTHING IN COMPARISON TO WHAT I HAVE DONE AND GONE THROUGH.
CONTACT ME I HAVE THE REAL STORY.
