Nigerian executed in China

The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign affairs yesterday announced the execution of Mr. Chibuzor Vituz in China. He was found guilty of illicit drug trafficking (big no no in China) and was actually executed on April 23,2009 at 11:00 hours but for some reason that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to explain, this information was only officially released to the media yesterday.

The Nigerian Embassy in Beijing had this to say about the case:

"The case of Mr Ezekwem had been on for some time and the Embassy had kept a close watch on the proceedings throughout the period of his trial to ensure that he had a fair hearing throughout the period of his trial. The Mission's plea for mitigation of the death sentence was rejected and the death sentence passed on him was sadly eventually carried out in accordance with the Laws of the People's Republic of China.

Nigerians are known to be very enterprising, you seem to find us in every nook and cranny on earth doing quite well for ourselves in some cases. But unfortunately, the criminally inclined amongst us share this same entrepreneurial spirit as well.

In june, 2008. Two Nigerians were executed for trafficking illegal drugs in Indonesia, and 18 more Nigerians are still on death row in there.

  5. Well, I don't blame the Chinese for their drug policy. It is those who are seeking quick and easy money who are to blame. Instead of them working honestly like everybody else, they think they are being smart by trafficking from country to country. Foolishness, they have done nothing but brought disgrace to all Nigerians and to themselves.

  7. Although the act these die hard 'get rich die trying' morons perpetrate is both disgraceful to their perspective countries, killing them won't deter their actions. As statistics show, they are not scared of the gravity of the crime as to them, the money is worth the risk. They are not murderers or paedophiles. They probably consider themselves as desperate illegal businessmen who invest alot of money, risk their freedom and probably thier life to buy and sell in an illegal form of trade. Handing out lengthy sentences and death convictions will only increase the price of these drugs and make the dark trade more lucreative as it will become a scarce commodity.
Without demand, there can be no supply. Create rehabilitation prisons with strict back to society regimes for all drug addicts and keep them there for years until they are proven clean. Imprison these dealers for life without possibility of parole with extremely hard labour in order to pay back years of non payment of tax. When a key of cocaine costs no more than a loaf of bread, then they will all go back to their respective cleaning jobs with pride and honour.
