Ameobi Will Be Available for Friendly - Siasia

Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has made assurance that Newcastle forward Shola Ameobi will make his debut for Nigeria in the friendly match against Guatemala on February 9.

Reports in the Nigerian media had speculated that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew had spoken to Ameobi about dropping the game for pressing domestic challenges, but Siasia has assured that the striker will be in his team.

"I have told you this repeatedly that Ameobi is keen on playing for Nigeria," Siasia told Complete Sports.

"We exchange text messages everyday and he kept assuring me that we will see him in the United States of America where the match will be played. So I don't know why people are just speculating wrong information."

Siasia said that he has assurance from the other invited players that they will make the trip to the US for his first game in charge of the team.

The coach also said that the Guatemala game will help in team bonding before the all important AFCON qualifier against Ethiopia in March.

"It is important for both the coaches and players to meet as one family and discuss on how to plan for the future," Siasia said.
