West Ham vs Chelsea featuring Obi Mikel and his Funky hats

Jolly good show by Chelsea this weekend. They put up a sound performance against West Ham without key players like Drogba. Mikel happened to be one of the Heroes of the match with his on the line booting of the ball to save Peter Cech's arse. But even more important is where in the hell does he get his hats from. Reporter up top in the video can't help but do some investigative journalism on this very pressing issue of the funkyhats.

Nollywood in Hollywood

Alright, check it. In Asian cinema you have actors like Chow Yun-Fat who found his fame and fortune in Hong Kong produced action packed John Woo movies such as The Killer (insert white dove here) and Hard Boiled. My guy was able to use his garnered Godlike celebrity status in Asia and transfer  that into a reasonable successful career in Hollywood. He’s been in Hollywood hits like The Replacement Killers and one of the highest grossing movies in American history Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Unfortunately he was recently in the disastrous flop Dragon Ball Evolution. Big shame really, because I’m a fan of the original anime. I guess all stars have their ups and downs.

In Spanish cinema you have Penelope Cruz who started out on Spanish telly. She managed to dazzle people enough to land roles in feature length movies in Spain. But at all, she didn’t stop there. She’s been in such Hollywood blockbusters like BLOW, dated and starred opposite Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky, and recently won an Oscar for best supporting actress in her performance in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona where she plays alongside that very very fine girl Scarlett Johansoon.

Then we have Bollywood’s other fine girl Aishwarya Rai who’s pretty much the Goddess of all things Bollywood. She’s also trying to make it big in Hollywood, but so far her attempts haven’t yielded much. She’s been in movies like The Pink Panther 2 (flop) and The Last Legion (major flop). But I’ll still give her kudos, she’s trying sha!

And last but not least we have our brothers and sisters in Nollywood. Last time I checked (today) Nollywood is the third largest movie industry in the world thus definitely generating its own idols and mega super stars. But when are we going to see Genevieve starring next to Will Smith in blood money 3?? I’m just saying...

Canadian kidnapped in Kaduna

Is it just me or are kidnappings rampantly happening all over the world right now. We have crazy Somali pirates, Jaimacans hijacking planes, Militia in the Niger Delta of Nigeria, and now Kaduna has gotten in the mix.

Canadian woman Julie Ann Mulligan was Kidnapped in Kaduna last Thursday, April 16th. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of 20 million Naira which is  $136,227 US Dollars.  At about approximately 8 hours ago today (April 23rd) it was reported that Julie has fallen seriously ill. Here are some of the quotes from her Captors:

"Our hostage is seriously sick, she has malaria and rashes all over her body,"

"She is still weak even after taking some medication we offered her. She can barely talk"

It's a pretty sorry state of affairs around the world these days. People are resulting to very desperate measures in this desperate time we're all in, brought about by the global recession, and for the criminally inclined in the third world, kidnapping seems to be where the money's at.

I hope Julie returns home safely.

Obasanjo in the hot seat in Hardtalk interview

Watch Obasanjo in the hot seat in hard talk interview in News  |  View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.com

Chai!!! These BBC guys don't joke around. The show isn't called Hardtalk for nothing. Last month Obasanjo was on the show, president or no president  this BBC dude didn't send, and just started interrogating OBJ anyhow.

Former president of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo was confronted interviewed about hard pressing issues such as corruption that has been devastating Nigeria and the entire African continent as a whole. Maybe it's just me but if you look in the video up top, like around the 17th minute I think, you can just notice a trickle of sweat running down from the left corner of OBJ's eyebrow.

UK man held hostage by Nigerian militia for more than six months finally released

From kidnappings in Kaduna to Somali pirates holding sailors and cargo hostage left and right even after 3 of them got sniped by SEALS, can the continent of Africa ever look darker? At least a UK family have some respite from the anarchy that's persistent in the continent. After more than six months of being held captive by Nigerian militia knows as "MEND" (Emancipation of the Niger Delta) Robin Hughes was finally released.

Nigerian Fraudsters targeting football youth

This breed of Nigerian fraudsters are a pretty despicable bunch. With scams like the Nigerian letter, you can at least put some blame on the victims due to the fact that it's mainly their greed that caused them to fall victim in the first place. But targeting innocent Nigerian kids who are naive and desperate in pursuing their dreams of playing professional football abroad is WRONG in all sorts of ways. It's pure unadulterated scum like these guys that will help Nigeria retain the infamous title of being one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

Oba Femi Martins PSA

Yes Marrins we know, it's a very very bad disease. Marrins is a good boy sha. Enough props for doing that PSA, even though he stated the obvious lol. Now wonder if he's going to stick around with the sinking ship that is Newcastle or move to greener pasture...most likely the former I reckon!

Person of the day-Bobby Ologun

Some of you guys have probably heard of Bobby Ologun. If not, he's kind of a big deal in Japan. The dude is friggin hirarious and quite sharp I think if it's hopefully one big elaborate ruse his act is...I truly hope it is. His shtick is based on him exploiting old skool stereo types of African gaijins in Japan by bulging his eyes out (that must hurt) from time to time and speaking Japanese in an exaggerated deep voice as he intentionally butchers the language. And the dude is milking the whole thing for what it's worth.

His career took a big hit in 06 after he allegedly assaulted one of his Ogas over fuck you pay me issues. But he seems to be making a comeback as of late by appearing on talk shows and taking part in b-list celebrity shows.

Enough props to Bobby Ologun, how many Nigerian celebrities can lay claim to being in a videogame....Bobby San can!!!

Tyson vs Ali

VS

Just had to post these bad boys up, these trailers are fuckin amazing. I watched the Tyson documentary like a week ago, and it's pretty awesome. It gave some good insight of who Tyson the actual person is. And I have to say, he did redeem himself in it a bit. Just a pity he got sidetracked with the excesses that come with fame and fortune.

Haven't seen the Ali documentary yet, but that insane trailer has asserted that he's truly the greatest!

Zebrudaya-They don't make em like they used to

Is what's on Naija telly these days even half as good as what was on NTA in the golden age of Zebrudaya and the rest of the crew?  Kinda doubt it! And I don't think it's just nostalgia for the era that's shacking me here.

Today we have Nigerian comedians like Nkem Owoh and rising stars like basket mouth. But none of them are as iconic as folks like Zebrudaya. Wonder where Zebu is now...that Elephant Blue detergent probably poisoned the poor guy. He shouldn't have endorsed that toxic shite. Remember how fuckin blue that detergent was???

Got me very suspicious when I used to use that radioactive crap to wash my clothes, and looks like I had good reason to be...check this shit out!

Chelsea Area Boys

Alright, this might not be exactly Naija related, but West Africa is close enough. It's awesome to see these Cherski (Chelsea FC) players acting like a bunch of juniors from a Nigerian boarding school on their break time. Pretty cool to see that the millions of cashmoney they make hasn't dampened their playful spirits.

Look at Essien holding Diarra well well as he attempts to run away...fuckin luv it. I'm sure Diarra has found some respite from these bullies now that he's at Real Madrid.

Last King of Scotland is the new Chief of Biafra

Nna, look at these guys. It's just recently that they've discovered what we all knew before. I mean the first time I saw Danny Glover bone for Whoopi Goldberg in the Colour Purple,  it was clear for everyone to see that he was a typical Igbo man with a temper!

Then my guy Forest Whitaker goes shouting at everybody in the movie The Last King of Scotland as if he was the main actor in a poorly made (aren't they all bad) Nollywood film. Well I'm glad they're acknowledging the obvious...Welcome home boys.

The Onion spin on Naija

In The Know: Situation In Nigeria Seems Pretty Complex

This one's a classic right here. The folks at The Onion do a wonderful job on showing how truly ignorant most western news houses are when it comes to reporting on Nigeria issues. From how they butcher names to mistaken Nigeria for Niger, this one's sure to make you laugh even if you've seen it before.

Naija Boyz- We're wairring guys

Big fan of the Naija Boyz. These guys lit the entire internet a blaze a year ago with their awesome youtube music video Naija Boy. That video alone generated more than 5 million views, which is no small feat by any means. In fact, it's pretty fucking amazing actually!

With great production value that puts Nollywood to shame, and the witty Naija humor these Nigerian boys exude in their music videos. I can't wait to see what's next! For now, the latest we have from them is a 30second video of a facebook invite :( Guess that's a little fix until they release their epic Naija remix of the classic Thriller!
