Nollywood in Hollywood

Alright, check it. In Asian cinema you have actors like Chow Yun-Fat who found his fame and fortune in Hong Kong produced action packed John Woo movies such as The Killer (insert white dove here) and Hard Boiled. My guy was able to use his garnered Godlike celebrity status in Asia and transfer  that into a reasonable successful career in Hollywood. He’s been in Hollywood hits like The Replacement Killers and one of the highest grossing movies in American history Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Unfortunately he was recently in the disastrous flop Dragon Ball Evolution. Big shame really, because I’m a fan of the original anime. I guess all stars have their ups and downs.

In Spanish cinema you have Penelope Cruz who started out on Spanish telly. She managed to dazzle people enough to land roles in feature length movies in Spain. But at all, she didn’t stop there. She’s been in such Hollywood blockbusters like BLOW, dated and starred opposite Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky, and recently won an Oscar for best supporting actress in her performance in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona where she plays alongside that very very fine girl Scarlett Johansoon.

Then we have Bollywood’s other fine girl Aishwarya Rai who’s pretty much the Goddess of all things Bollywood. She’s also trying to make it big in Hollywood, but so far her attempts haven’t yielded much. She’s been in movies like The Pink Panther 2 (flop) and The Last Legion (major flop). But I’ll still give her kudos, she’s trying sha!

And last but not least we have our brothers and sisters in Nollywood. Last time I checked (today) Nollywood is the third largest movie industry in the world thus definitely generating its own idols and mega super stars. But when are we going to see Genevieve starring next to Will Smith in blood money 3?? I’m just saying...
